The Museum’s archives hold an extensive collection relating to the Whangaroa County:
- · Local family genealogies and histories, including many photographs.
- · Cemetery records - (still being compiled) there are many Cemeteries and Urupa in the County.
- · Missionary histories including information about Wesleyan/Methodist, Anglican, Catholic and Seventh Day Adventist
- · Kauri logging, Boat building, the Timber Mills,
- · Geology, including the Tepene Tableland Clay area
- · Local newspaper clippings dating from early 1950's
- · Records and roll information from many of the schools that existed - approx. 150+ years of local schooling, School photos.
- · The Womens’ Division of Federated Farmers, Kiwanis, and other community groups.
- Sports Clubs: including Rugby, Golf, Whangaroa Sport fishing, Boxing, Cricket, Football...
- · Masonic Lodge history, dating from the 1870s
- WW1 and WW2 Our men who went to fight - Visit our Remembrance Room.
There are books, many newspaper clippings and photographs relating to the past. The inventory of historical documents is being added to constantly now that it is recognised that the museum is able to take care of these valuable items. Many families in the district have lodged their family material for safe keeping and preservation with the museum.

There is a small charge for assisted enquiries, and an additional charge for research done for you by our volunteer Archivists.
